CB-1P

Precision plasma bevel cutting for lightwall pipe, with controlled rotation and no cable wrap-up.

The BUG-O CB-1P is a plasma circle burner for cutting beveled holes in lightwall pipe and vessels. It is designed for 1″ to 12″ / 25 to 300 mm beveled holes, wall thickness up to 5/16″ / 7 mm, and saddle-cut holes up to two-thirds of the workpiece diameter.

With plasma cutting, automatic rise and fall cam control, continuous rotation without cable or hose wrap-up, adjustable torch positioning and carriage or manipulator mounting, the CB-1P is a practical mechanised solution for thin-wall, small-diameter pipe fabrication and repeatable beveled hole cutting.

Overview

The BUG-O CB-1P is a plasma circle burner designed for cutting beveled holes in lightwall pipe or vessels. It is built for applications where accurate saddle-cut openings are required in thin-wall, small-diameter pipe, and where manual cutting would be slower, less consistent and more labour-intensive.

The machine is supplied with an air plasma power source specified by the customer, a torch and 50 ft / 15 m leads. It can cut beveled holes in lightwall pipe or vessels with wall thickness up to 5/16″ / 7 mm. An automatic rise and fall cam controls the torch position for saddle-cut holes up to two-thirds of the workpiece diameter.

The CB-1P is designed for continuous rotation without cable or hose wrap-up. The cables and air hoses pass through slip rings and O-rings, allowing the machine to operate continuously in either direction. The unit must be mounted on a carriage, manipulator or suitable fixture.

Recommended options and accessories

  1. Carriage or manipulator mounting: Required for CB-1P operation, as the machine must be mounted on a carriage, manipulator or fixture.
  2. CWO-4540 Carriage: Carriage used with the CB-1P Air Plasma Machine. It includes a winch to hold the machine and prevent it from falling into the hole when the slug drops.
  3. CWO-4550 Motorized Carriage: Motorized carriage that may be used with the CB-1P Air Plasma Machine and provides motorized vertical travel of the machine.
  4. CB-1PR Remote Control version: Remote-control configuration for applications where remote operation is preferred.
  5. Hypertherm® Powermax SYNC® plasma power source: Current brochure configurations reference Powermax SYNC® 65, 85 and 105 options, depending on required cutting output and capacity.
  6. 50 ft / 15 m torch leads: Supplied with the machine, allowing practical working distance between machine and power source.
  7. Suitable carriage fixture: Recommended where the customer requires a custom mounting arrangement for pipe, vessel or production-line integration.

Technical advantages

The main technical advantage of the BUG-O CB-1P is its ability to mechanise beveled hole cutting on lightwall pipe and vessels. Instead of relying on manual torch movement, the machine controls the rotation and torch position, helping improve consistency, accuracy and repeatability.

The automatic rise and fall cam is central to the machine’s performance. It raises and lowers the torch to follow the saddle profile of the pipe or vessel, allowing the CB-1P to cut shaped openings that would be difficult and time-consuming to reproduce manually with the same consistency.

The continuous-rotation design is another major advantage. Because the cables and air hoses pass through slip rings and O-rings, the machine can rotate continuously in either direction without hose or cable wrap-up. This reduces interruption during cutting and supports a cleaner production workflow.

The CB-1P also includes adjustable vertical and horizontal torch positioning, rotation speed and directional controls, and manual/off/automatic control. These features give the operator better control over setup, torch alignment and cutting execution.

Applications

The BUG-O CB-1P is designed for plasma bevel cutting of holes in lightwall pipe or vessels. It is especially suitable for thin-wall, small-diameter pipe applications where saddle-cut openings are required for fabrication, welding preparation or pipe-to-pipe connections.

Typical applications include sprinkler pipe fabrication, pipe fabrication, vessel work, saddle hole cutting, beveled hole preparation, lightwall industrial pipework, small-diameter pipe production and fabrication environments where repeatable beveled openings are required.

The machine is not a free-standing cutting tool. It must be mounted on a carriage, manipulator or fixture, which makes it best suited to controlled workshop or production setups rather than casual handheld cutting work.

Why choose this product

The CB-1P is a strong choice for companies that need repeatable plasma bevel cutting on lightwall pipe or vessels. It is purpose-built for a very specific production problem: cutting accurate beveled saddle holes in thin-wall, small-diameter pipe with less manual variability.

For fabrication teams, the practical value is reduced operator fatigue, improved cutting consistency, faster repeatable setup and better process control. The automatic cam system, rotational drive and cable-management design allow the operator to focus on correct setup and process supervision rather than manually guiding the torch around the full cut.

For companies working with repeated pipe openings, especially in sprinkler fabrication or similar production environments, the CB-1P offers a focused mechanised solution that can improve output, reduce rework and support more consistent downstream welding preparation.
