The BUG-O DCW-18 is a heavy-duty circle welding machine for 10″ to 50″ / 254 to 1270 mm welding diameters. It is available as the DCW-18-L with Lincoln Electric® MAXsa® 10 Controller for Power Wave® AC/DC 1000® SD systems, or as the DCW-18-M with Miller® Digital interface for Miller® Digital Series power sources.
With submerged arc process capability, 0.06 to 0.72 rpm rotation speed, 7″ / 177.8 mm rise-and-fall cam travel, 600 A current rating at 100% duty cycle, continuous rotation without cable or hose wrap-up, and compatibility with 3-jaw expandable chucks or manipulators, the DCW-18 is a practical automated solution for demanding large-diameter circular welding applications.

Overview
The BUG-O DCW-18 is a heavy-duty mechanised circle welding machine designed for high-quality circular welding on large nozzles, vessels, pipe connections and industrial components. It is built for welding diameters from 10″ to 50″ / 254 to 1270 mm, making it suitable for larger circular welds than the DCW-5.
The DCW-18 is available in two main configurations. The DCW-18-L is equipped with a Lincoln Electric® MAXsa® 10 Controller for Power Wave® AC/DC 1000® SD systems and is configured for sub-arc welding. The DCW-18-M is equipped for use with Miller® Digital Series power sources and is also configured for SAW process applications.
The machine provides digitally controlled welding power source integration, smooth controlled rotation, a rise and fall cam with 7″ / 177.8 mm of travel, and continuous rotation without hose or cable wrap-up. With 0.06 to 0.72 rpm rotation speed and 600 A current transfer capacity at 100% duty cycle, the DCW-18 is designed for demanding industrial fabrication where weld consistency, deposition control and repeatable circular motion are critical.
The main technical advantage of the BUG-O DCW-18 is its ability to mechanise large-diameter circular welding with controlled rotation and digitally integrated welding power source control. This is especially important for large nozzles, vessels and pipe connections, where manual circular welding can introduce inconsistent travel speed, uneven deposition and operator fatigue.
The DCW-18 is designed for 10″ to 50″ / 254 to 1270 mm welding diameters. This makes it a heavier, larger-capacity circle welding system compared with smaller BUG-O circle welders, and positions it for vessel, pipe, structural and heavy fabrication applications.
The machine’s 7″ / 177.8 mm rise and fall cam travel allows the welding head to follow the changing profile of circular welds. This helps maintain torch position and weld consistency around the joint, especially where nozzle or pipe geometry creates changes in elevation during rotation.
The collector ring and brush system transfers welding current and control signals through the rotating assembly. This eliminates hose and cable wrap-up regardless of direction of rotation, allowing continuous circular welding without stopping to untwist cables or hoses.
The DCW-18-L configuration benefits from Lincoln Electric® MAXsa® 10 and Power Wave® AC/DC 1000® SD integration, including waveform control and eight procedure memories. The DCW-18-M configuration supports Miller® Digital power source integration, with SubArc DC and AC/DC power source options for high-output submerged arc applications.

The BUG-O DCW-18 is suitable for large-diameter circular welding applications where high deposition, consistent travel and repeatable welding parameters are required. It is especially relevant for submerged arc welding on vessels, nozzles, pipe connections and heavy industrial components.
Typical applications include shipbuilding, construction, pipeline welding, pressure vessel fabrication, oil and gas fabrication, petrochemical equipment, heavy equipment manufacturing, structural fabrication and large circular weldments requiring controlled mechanised welding.
The DCW-18 is particularly useful where large circular welds need to be produced with consistent weld quality, reduced operator fatigue and fewer interruptions caused by cable or hose wrap-up.
The DCW-18 is a strong choice for companies that need large-diameter mechanised circle welding with digital process control. It is built for industrial users who need more capacity than smaller circle welders can provide, especially in the 10″ to 50″ diameter range.
For production teams, the commercial value is improved weld consistency, reduced rework, higher productivity and better repeatability. The controlled rotation, rise-and-fall cam and power source integration help create a more stable welding process than manual circular welding.
The availability of both Lincoln Electric® and Miller® configurations also gives buyers flexibility. Companies already standardized around Lincoln Power Wave® / MAXsa® systems can select the DCW-18-L, while companies using Miller® SubArc Digital systems can select the DCW-18-M.
